The need for duplicate copies of billing paper is only going to increase as tax compliance increases following the implementation of GST in India. It used to be quite a cumbersome and slow process earlier when there used to be a carbon paper inserted between the original and duplicate sheets on which the printing is to take place. That was when dot matrix printers were used and it is well known that these printers were static on one place, which restricted their utility. Thankfully, companies like Rudkav, which is one of the leading carbonless paper manufacturers, is supplying to businesses all over the country and beyond.
How carbonless paper works
Earlier, the bulk of the billing in POS (Point of Sale) was hand written on pre-printed sheets with a carbon paper in between the original and duplicate sheets. Carbonless paper was developed for the first time in the 1950s and it was designed replace carbon paper as the chosen medium for producing duplicate bills, as well as letters, reports, etc. This kind of paper has chemical coating on the back of the original sheet which gets imprinted on the duplicate sheet by impact. The special coating consisting of a special ink formulation on the back of the sheet reacts with a special clay coating on the front of the duplicate sheet to produce the print output on the duplicate sheet when something is written, typed or printed on the original sheet.
Generating multiple copies of billing paper
Reputed carbonless paper suppliers like Rudkav supply paper on which the reaction after impact is strong enough to create impressions on multiple duplicate sheets. Hence, use of this technology helps customers create more than one duplicate copy at once which is quite helpful in a product’s supply chain. Depending on how a product runs through the supply chain from the point of manufacture right up to the end user, a number of copies of the same invoice is sometimes required. The shipper’s copy of the invoice, the wholesaler’s copy, the distributor’s copy, the retailer’s own copy and finally the customer’s copy are required for proper record of transactions.
